Orbit compared

How Orbit stacks up against the apps people usually weigh it against. Each page says plainly where the other product is better, links to its own pages for every fact, and was checked on 24 October 2026.

Short answer

Orbit is a desktop workspace that runs Claude, Grok and Codex chats on your own plans, with a browser, terminal, planner, inbox and an always-on Moon around them. It's strongest for people who use more than one AI and run several projects at once. Single-model apps and dedicated code tools beat it at their own specialities, and because Orbit uses the plans you already pay for, several of them work alongside it rather than instead of it.

Head to head

  • Orbit vs the Claude desktop app: Claude's own app goes deeper on Claude, with Cowork, worktrees and pull request automation; Orbit runs the same Claude plan beside Grok and Codex, with your day built in.
  • Orbit vs the ChatGPT desktop app: ChatGPT's app runs Codex on your ChatGPT plan, which Orbit can't yet; Orbit adds Claude and Grok in the same chat and the tools for your day.
  • Orbit vs Cursor: Cursor is the better editor, with Tab autocomplete; Orbit is a workspace for AI chats on your own Claude plan, and the two work well together.
  • Orbit vs Conductor: Conductor is built for parallel coding agents in their own Git worktrees; Orbit covers more of your work, adds Grok and runs on Windows too.

How we write these

We make Orbit, so read these pages knowing that. To keep them fair, every fact about another product links to that product's own website or docs, checked on the date shown. Each page has a section on where the other product is better, and we mean it. If something has changed or we've got it wrong, tell us at contact and we'll fix it.

Common questions

Does Orbit replace my Claude or ChatGPT subscription?

No. Orbit runs Claude on your own Claude plan and Grok on your SuperGrok plan, and Codex on your OpenAI API key. You keep those, and Orbit never charges for model usage.

Can I use Orbit alongside Cursor or Conductor?

Yes. Orbit projects are folders on your computer, so the same repository can be open in Cursor or Conductor too. See the comparison pages for setups that work.

Is Orbit related to Mozilla Orbit?

No. Mozilla's Orbit was a Firefox add-on that closed on 26 June 2025. Orbit by SUPERORBIT is an unrelated desktop app.

What does Orbit cost?
