Help/Your day
Journal
The Journal is a private page a day: a two-minute morning check-in, a two-minute evening one, and your mood over time. It's encrypted, and no Orb can read it unless you turn that on.
Open the Journal
The Journal is a block that comes with Orbit. Open it from the blocks in the left rail, or pin it to Home as a widget showing whether you've done today's check-ins, your mood, your streak and the one thing you're tackling. It has three tabs: Today, Diary and Mood.

Morning and evening
| Morning: "Set the day up before it sets you up." | Evening: "Look back, take the lesson, let the day go." |
|---|---|
| One thing you want to tackle to make today great | How did today go? |
| Your top 3 goals for today | Wins |
| What you're grateful for | What did you learn? |
| Today's affirmation: use the suggested one or write your own | How are you feeling? Your mood, with energy, sleep, tags and a note under a fold |
Diary and Mood
Diary lists every day you've written, newest first, with Search your journal across all of it. Click a day to read it, then Edit to change it.
Mood turns your check-ins into insights: average mood and sleep, number of check-ins, your streak, a trend line, the last year as a grid of days, mood by weekday, and which tags lift or drag your mood (tag a few days, each tag on at least two, to see this).
Check-in nudges
If you haven't written yet, your Moon nudges you on your computer and phone at 08:00 for the morning and 21:00 for the evening. Change the times or turn them off:
- Open Settings and choose your Moon's section (it carries your Moon's name).
- Use the Journal check-ins switch, and set the two times beside it.
Nudges don't come in quiet hours.
Who can read it
Each day is encrypted on your computer, with a key kept in your computer's secure storage (the Keychain on a Mac). A copy of Orbit's data folder or a backup can't be read without it. Your paired phone reads the Journal over Orbit's end-to-end encrypted phone link and keeps nothing on disk. Phone notifications carry no journal text.
| Who | Can read it? |
|---|---|
| You, on your computer or paired phone | Yes |
| Orbit's servers, the phone relay, Apple and Google | No |
| Other chats, Orbs and blocks | No |
| Your Moon | Only if you turn on Juno can read my journal in the same Settings section (it uses your Moon's name). It's off to start with. |
With Moon access on, what your Moon reads goes to the AI model like anything else in its chat. It can then follow up on your goals and notice patterns. The Journal is also only as private as your computer login: anyone signed in as you can open Orbit.
Common questions
I used the Mood block before. Where did my check-ins go?
Into the Journal, encrypted. The old Mood block is archived with its own plain copy. Once you've checked the Journal, use Remove plain copy under Old Mood data in your Moon's Settings section.
Can I delete a day?
Yes. Open the day and use Delete this day.
